Physics.- Dublin Imprint.- Thompson (Sir Benjamin) An Essay on Chimney Fire-Places; With Proposals for Improving Them, To Save Fuel..., first edition, half-title, 3 folding engraved plates, foxing and offsetting, affecting plates, half-title and third plate with marginal tears, both loose and with very minor loss, also with very short closed tears to fore-edges, disbound, small 4to, Dublin, by and for R.E. Mercier and Co., 1796. ⁂Sir Benjamin Thompson Count Rumford (1753-1814) physicist and prolific inventor, his work in thermodynamics and in photometry. Thompson was, with Sir Thomas Bernard, the guiding founder of the Royal Institution; the Rumford Medals are still awarded in his name. The Rumford Fireplace is illustrated here.
