PICABIA, Francis (1879-1953). Pensées sans langage . Paris: Figuière, 1919. 12° (190 x 124mm). (Light browning in the margins.) Original illustrated wrappers, the upper side reproducing a design by Picabia (small neat repairs at the spine ends, a short tear to the back cover, light soiling); custom case, perhaps by Cambras, covered in variously coloured and textured papers. Provenance : small stamp in Chinese characters on the front blank. FIRST EDITION. The front wrapper with a fictive statement of second edition. One of the earliest works by Picabia, where 'the texts rely on chance and display a marked freedom' (Laffont-Bompiani). Ades p.145.
