Pope Pius II. Epistola ad Mahumetem, 53 ff. (of 54, lacking initial blank), 27 lines, Gothic type, title underlined in red, first initial in blue, initial-strokes in red, early ink marginalia and passage marking, single small wormhole throughout, minor (almost imperceptible) loss to the odd letter, a few small marginal water-stains, some light foxing (mostly marginal), the Sir Sydney Cockerell copy, with his bibliographical notes on the present work to front free endpaper, bound in russet morocco, by Katharine Adams, titled in gilt on upper cover and on spine (date incorrectly so), spine with five raised bands, date on upper cover partially obscured by remains of a thick paper label, a little rubbed and marked, spine slightly faded, [BMC I, 191; Goff P-697; Hain 172], small 4to, [Cologne], [Ulrich Zell], [not after 1472]. *** Pius II's public letter to Mehmed II, attempting to convert the Turkish ruler to Christianity.
