Each 305x229 mm; 12x9 inches, full margins, loose as issued. Edition of a small, unknown size. Printed by the Seven Arts Workshop, Chicago. Includes: MARGARET BURROUGHS (1917 - 2010) Harriet Tubman. Signed and titled in pencil, lower margin * Emma Lazarus. Signed and titeld in pencil, lower margin * W. E. B. Du Bois* BERNARD GOSS (1913 - 1966) Frederick Douglass. Signed in pencil, lower right * JOYCE GOURFAIN (1908 - 1976) Harriet Beecher Stowe. Signed and titled in pencil, lower margin * PETER GOURFAIN (1934 - ) John Brown Signed and titled in pencil, lower margin. With the original printed portfolio cover and the printed introduction by the sculptor Marion Perkins. Provenance: the estate of Morris Topchevsky; Richard Norton Gallery, Chicago; private collection, Chicago. This complete portfolio of Chicago printmakers is extremely scarce; we have located only one other set, in the collection of the Library of Congress, Washington, DC. This set and the Library of Congress set both include six prints, including the W. E. B. Du Bois print by Burroughs, though only five are listed on the front cover.
