POTTER, BEATRIX. The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck. London: Frederick Warne & Co., n.d. [circa 1925]. Title vignette and 27 color illustrations. 12mo, original grey paper boards, upper cover with inset color pictorial label, color pictorial endpapers (Linder 9 & 8 [at front] and 8 & 9 [at rear]), slight rubbing to extremities. Later edition (circa 1925), PRESENTATION COPY, inscribed by Potter on the half-title: "For Edith Mary Parker ["Parker" crossed out] Newton with kind regards from Beatrix Potter Oct 24.25." With an additional presentation inscription (to an unnamed recipient) on the front free endpaper from Isabel Mackereth bearing the same date. Isabel Mackereth was the daughter of John and Mrs. Mackereth, who, at one time, ran Hill Top Farm. Isabel Mackereth was the lucky recipient of many inscribed copies from Potter. V & A 1591 lists a copy of this title inscribed to Isabel [Mackereth] dated 1927; see Beatrix Potter The V & A Collection (London, 1985) for other copies.
