PRINCE HENRY AND PRINCESS ALICE'S WEDDING TUREENS A PAIR OF GEORGE III SILVER SOUP-TUREENS, COVERS AND LINERS MARK OF PAUL STORR LONDON, 1811 Circular bombé and on four foliage-capped paw feet, the reeded handles cast with foliage and with lion's mask terminals, the gadrooned rim heightened with leaf and shell motifs, the detachable cover with a reeded loop handle with lion's mask and paw terminals, on a foliage support, each later engraved inside the cover with an inscription and an initial 'H' within a Garter motto and below a Royal Duke's coronet, the conforming liner with shell grips, each engraved twice with a coat-of-arms and twice on the cover with a crest below a baron's coronet, marked underneath, on cover, on finial and on liner, further stamped underneath and on liner '370' on one and '752' on the other 15 7/8 in. (40.3 cm.) wide over handles 383 oz. (11,910 gr.) The arms are those of Butler, quartering others, for Richard, 10th Baron Caher (1775-1819). He was later created Viscount Caher and Earl of Glengall in 1816. He married Emily (d. 1836), daugher of James St. John Jefferys of Blarny Castle Co. Cork, who he married in 1793. The later inscription reads 'To His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester, KG and Lady Alice Montagu Douglas Scott on the occasion of their Wedding from the Chiefs of Missions accredited to the Court of S t James's 6 November 1935 .' The later initial is that of H.R.H. The Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester. (2)
