Print Seller.- Woodward (George Moutard) Original drawing for the caricature "Symptoms of the Shop", pencil on wove paper, with extensive pen and blackish-grey ink text inscription, corrected in brown ink, presented within triple ruled border, with title in upper margin alongside 'Sketch 6.', and inscribed 'Woodward Delin.' in the lower left margin, sheet 245 x 210 mm. (9 5/8 x 8 1/4 in), laid onto paper support, some spotting, minor browning and surface dirt, framed, [circa 1801]; together with the finished stipple engraving by F. Sansom after Woodward, hand-colouring, 250 x 190 mm. (9 7/8 x 7 1/2 in), under glass, some handling creases, framed, 1801 (2) Literature: Not in BM Satires ⁂ "Thou proof Print of unsullied Beauty, - lovely transparency of unblemished charms, behold a Print Seller, at your feet, who does not wish to Varnish over his passion with the opake mixture of fulsome flattery, but one who would be happy to take you off plain or colour'd...".
