Private collection: Two Chinese hardstone Neolithic Liangzhu culture style congs, 20th century. Comprising of a large white hardstone cong of squat, tubular form with a square cross section, a thick wall and a central hole running vertically through the cong hollowed from both ends, the exterior finely incised with parallel ridges and monsters faces spanning the corners, together with a small hardstone cong of cylindrical form with a thin wall and incised with parallel ridges and two tiers of monsters faces, the stone of a veined cream and brown tone. (2 items) 2.7 in (6.9 cm) height, 5.8 in (14.7 cm) diameter. 2.2 in (5.7 cm) height, 2 in (5.2 cm) diameter. Provenance: Formerly in the Alexander Taylor collection.
