Lot of 8 views of Purviance's photographic car in use on the Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania Central Railroads in the late 1860s through the 1870s. Purviance was provided a 4-4-0 locomotive and a special car fitted for making photographs for the railroads. 4 are on Purviance mounts and 4 are high quality pirated copies showing the train on various bridges on the routes including Little Juniata; near Dancannon; Stone bridge near Pittsburgh; on the Deep Fill curve on the Tyrone & Clearfield Branch; bridge at Larimer's; West Penn High Bridge & Culver near Manor. Various yellow flat mounts. Provenance: The Ed Burchard Stereoview Collection Condition: Overall bright and clear. A few with mount soil and minor corner rubbing.
