A rare chromolithographed paper fan commemorating Admiral Dewey's victory at the Battle of Manila Bay during the Spanish American War. Features an image of Dewey on the first section, with American flags and battle cruisers alternating with floral designs comprising the remaining eight. It seems the fan was originally made with all floral sections, but someone cut and pasted the patriotic images in recognition of the American triumph of May 1, 1898. Each section approximately 3.75 in. in diameter on a 7.5 in. wood stick. Professionally and attractively framed to 16.5 x 11 in., in the shape of a fan. Condition: Bottom/far left section with significant stain. Rest with light soiling and edge wear. Not removed from frame for examination.
