Regicide.- Bradshaw's Ghost; A Poem: or, A Dialogue between John Bradshaw, Ferry-man Charon, Oliver Cromwel, Francis Ravillack, and Ignatius Loyola. 1660, first edition, ink number '26' to upper corner, one or two faint spots, modern roan-backed boards, a little rubbed, folio, [Wing B4163], 1660. ⁂ A satirical attack on John Bradshaw, the judge who was president of the court that sentenced Charles I to death. Here the newly triumphant Royalist sentiment makes its appearance, duly characterising Bradshaw and Cromwell as driven by oride, ambition and cruelty rather than principle or belief. This does not appear to be related, except in title, to another poem called 'Bradshaw's Ghost', published in 1659.
