Reinhardt sends thanks for 60th birthday greetings, in rather pessimistic terms, 'abgesehen von meinem persönlichen Fall ist auch im Allgemeinen die gänzlich unverschuldete Tatsache, geboren worden zu sein, nach der man heute ebenso streng fahndet wie man sie ahndet, für unsereinen eher ein Grund zum Flüchten als zum Feiern'; he also discusses a planned production of Johann Strauss's opera Die Fledermaus in Paris, 'Der Umsturz aller bisherigen Lebens- und Arbeits-Bedingungen gibt zudem diesem Versuch auch eine ausserordentliche praktische Bedeutung.
