Laurence William, rector of Peper Harow near Godalming and Alfold, author of two assize sermons and, "Hambledon, a descriptive poem, with other miscellaneous poems 1860", 1777-1862) Account Book, autograph manuscript, 174pp. excluding blanks, in at least two hands (mostly in LW Eliot's hand, and the other probably Thomas and Edward Eliot), ruled in red throughout, a few reverse entries, some ff. excised, 2ff. with small tears, slightly browned, with an 18th century manuscript inventory: "Inventory of part of late Mr Foulkes's Goods &c" (possibly connected to John Foulkes (1764-1821), of Elstead, attorney (known for defending William Godwin , tears along folds, loosely inserted, original vellum, slightly soiled and yellowed, sm. 4to, 1779-81, 1789 & 1802-17. *** Entries include: "1811... Paid Nichols/Bookseller Farnham/ £8 15s"; "January 15 1816 Horse 6d... Stockings 2/8? - John 5/Cobbett 2/6d 10s 8d"; "1808 March Paid Lord Midleton [owner of Peper Harow estate] for half a pipe of port wine £49 8s 6d½d"; "1808 Expences incurred previous to & on entering the parsonage at Peper Harow."
