Travels from Buenos Ayres, by Potosi, to Lima . 12 (15.6 x 98cm.) 2 folding engraved maps (one map affected by 6cm. clean tear, F3 torn through, c8 with paper repair to outer margin, some browning.) Mid 19th-century half roan and marbled boards. FIRST EDITION IN ENGLISH. An abridgement of the travels, first published in German in 1798, with an appendix from Alcedo, Ulloa, and other sources. Helms is described on the title page as 'formerly director of the mines near Cracow in Poland, and late director of the mines...in Peru.' Sabin 31265, calling for only one map in this edition. Juan Ignacio de MOLINA. The Geographical, Natural, and Civil History of Chili translated from the original Italian . London: for Longman, Hurst [etc.], 1809. 2 volumes, 8 (21.5 x 13.5cm.)
