Original letter hand-written by R. Crumb in pencil on 8.5" x 11" paper. Dated November 24, 2008. Signed "R. C." Very fine condition, small stain. Crumb's 21st c. epistolary technique is as follows: his brother-in-law Alex prints out emails addressed to Crumb; the un-tech-savvy Crumb writes his response on paper; Alex transcribes the handwritten letter into email, sends the email to the correspondent and saves the letter. A collector has latterly made an exclusive deal to obtain Crumb's handwritten email drafts; thus, these "email letters" are now essentially off the market. "...One learns a larger truth from it: Question Everything!" Crumb continues to explore his notion that H.I.V. is not the cause of AIDS: "The H.I.V. hypothesis falls apart pretty quickly with a minimum of investigation into the case against it. What's more bizarre is how the widespread belief in H.I.V. lives on in the face of many, many powerful arguments by intelligent investigators from all sides..."
