Beschreibung:

Roberto Clemente 3000th Hit Signed Original Photograph (PSA/DNA Graded 10) This photograph is believed to be one of a few sequential shots of Clemente making the 3000th hit of his career, that were shot on September 30, 1972, the day he reached that historic milestone, and developed and autographed by Clemente the following day. This 8 by 10 inch image is the last of the sequential shots, showing Clemente having contacted the ball and capturing his poetic form. It, along with the few others, were purportedly presented to Clemente for signing by Pirates broadcaster Bob Prince, on behalf of the photographer. Clemente added a strikingly bold black ink signature (PSA/DNA Graded 10) preceded by the salutation "Best Wishes" to the ideal area of the image, creating a distinguishing aesthetic quality that make this and it's brethren amongst the finest Clemente signed photos seen in the marketplace. Additional significance comes from the fact that Clemente's 3000th hit was the last of his career coming at the end of the 1972 regular season. Clemente died tragically 3 months later in a plane crash while en route to deliver supplies to relieve victims of the Nicaraguan earthquake. The photo shows some toning at the borders, but is otherwise in EX-MT condition. Framed. LOA from PSA/DNA (Graded 10).
