The Holy Land, Syria, Idumea, Arabia, Egypt & Nubia, 6 volumes in three, 1855-56, 248 tinted lithographed plates, including portrait frontispiece and titles, two uncoloured maps, light waterstain to upper and fore-margins of frontispieces and titles to each volume, otherwise in good clean condition, early presentation inscription to front endpaper of each volume, J. W. D. from E. J. D. December 1860, and with additional presentation inscription below 'The Revd. John Riddell B.A. with Lady Caird's warmest regards, Feb: 22d. 1894, all edges gilt, original publisher's gilt- and blind-decorated dark green full morocco, rubbed and scuffed to joints and edges, 4to. Abbey Travel 388. Tooley 401-402. The first quarto edition, with the plates reduced from the monumental folio edition of 1842-1849 by means of photography. This copy being the publisher's deluxe issue in full morocco. (3)
