An elaborate illustration with the artist's signature clean, bold graphics, the work encapsulates the vibrant backdrop New York City provided the rising culture of Hip Hop and breaking from the 1970s through the 1990s. Starting in the 1970s, DOZE's talents ripped across a variety of mediums over the years. He painted alongside the "Graffiti Gods" of Rammellzee and Dondi, danced with the Rock Steady Crew, hung out with Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel-Basquiat, joined Ice T's West Coast based RHYME SYNDICATE and then the FUTURE PRIMITIVE collective in San Francisco, continuously impacting the way Hip Hop would come to be visually defined. Since the 1990s, he has enjoyed a fruitful career as a visual artist, his current practice leaning more towards symbolic abstraction and the human form.
