Outdoor Pastimes of an American Hunter. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1905. 8vo (250 x 165 mm). Portrait frontispiece of Roosevelt, and 48 full-page photographic plates after Philip B. Stewart, Arthur Hewitt, E.S Curtis, and others, each with captioned tissue guards. Publisher's half pigskin over card boards, spine lettered, top edges cut, others uncut. Original coarse fawn paper dust-jacket with similar lettering, light rubbing to spine and joints of dust jacket, custom drop-back green cloth box, leather label lettered in gilt. A FINE COPY OF THE DELUXE EDITION, number 190 of 260 copies signed by the author as President, on Ruisdael paper. Teddy Roosevelt's account of his life in hunting, the narrative charmingly describes Roosevelt's adventures with cougars, deer, elk, wolves, etc., and also notes the President's advocacy of wilderness preservation. This copy has the very rare dust jacket. Haller 312; Phillips 320.
