This visit was by way of compensation as the school had asked if they could put on a play inspired by Rowling’s Harry Potter novels. Permission was initially agreed upon but had to be retracted at a late stage ‘because of the precedent it would set to other schools and organizations keen to stage her works.’ Rowling made a statement saying that she ‘sincerely regrets any disappointment to the school and those taking part in the production.'
