Royal Tokaji Mezes Mly 1st Growth Vineyard Asz, 6 puttonyos --Vintage 1993 The name Mezes Mly translates as "honey". Mezes Mly is a small estate of only 8 hectares (20 acres) in the village of Tarczal, the very heart of the famous Tokaji wine producing region in north east Hungary. The great Aszu vineyards of Tokaji were classified in 1700, the earliest of any wine region. In this classification two vineyards receive special mention as First Growths: Csarfas, which is a state experimental vineyard today, and Mezes Mly. Tasting note: deep golden colour. It has an intensely rich, dried fruit aroma and a deep, complex, luscious, honeyed palate with a length of finish that is almost incredible. Hugh Johnson 6 half-litres per lot
