Provenance : AILEEN PRINGLE (signature "Aileen" on front free endpaper). Actress Aileen Pringle (1895-1989) was the star of Three Weeks (1924) and many other silent movies. This copy was a gift from her first husband, Charles Pringle, and is initialled 'C.P.'. Following their separation she was briefly married to JAMES M. CAIN, author of The Postman Always Rings Twice .
