Objektsbeskrivning ON RUSSIAN PORCELAIN - [IMPERIAL PORCELAIN FACTORY] Imperatorskii farforovyi zavod 1774-1904 - ????????????? ?????????? ?????. 1744-1904. ??????? ?????????? ?????????????? ????????. St. Petersburg (1906). Folio (c. 385 x 310 mm.). viii, 422, 63, (1) pages. Photogravure frontispiece, 11 mounted plates (numbered I-XII on tissue-gards, and 1 chromo-lithographic plate on makers' marks and black and white illustrations (complete). Late 20th century brown cloth with red title on spine, spine with spotting and some wear to title label, upper wrapper bound in (spotting and soiling, some mended tears). Text with some spotting and soiling to margins, mainly on the first pages, some pages at the end creased, page 365-76 with some staining. Profusely illustrated work on the Russian Imperial Porcelain Factory in St. Petersburg documenting its history during 260 years. The Factory was founded in 1744 by the chemist Dmitry Ivanovich Vinogradov on the order by Empress Elisabeth, daughter of Peter the Great. During its first decades the factory manufactured exclusively for the Romanov family and the Imperial Court. The book also includes a chapter on makers' marks.
