Hand-coloured engraved title and 24 hand-coloured plates only. (Without the unumbered engraved plate of text, 'Requies animae', or plate 25.) Brunet and Hollstein both call for 25 numbered plates. Brunet V, 23; Bartsch LXX/2, pp. 273-294; Hollstein XXI, 423-436. [bound with:] Sylvae sacrae: Monumenta sanctioris philosophiae quam severa anachoretarum disciplina vitae religio et docuit . Paris: Jean Le Clerc, [c. 1600]. Oblong 4°. Hand-coloured engraved title and 28 plates only. (Without the unnumbered 'Paragramme' plate of engraved text or plate 29.) Brunet V, 23, calling for 25 plates in apparent error; Bartsch LXX/2 pp. 219-247 and Hollstein XXI, 407-422, calling for 29 numbered plates. [and:] Solitudo sive Vitae patrum eremicolarum . [Paris]: Jean Le Clerc, [c. 1600]. Hand-coloured engraved title and 29 plates. Bartsch 70/2 pp. 170-218; Brunet V, 23; Hollstein XXI, 377-406. [and:] Solitudo sive Vitae foeminarum anachoritarum . Paris: Jean Le Clerc, [c. 1600]. Hand-coloured engraved title and 25 hand-coloured plates, the last unnumbered. Brunet V, 23, calling for 24 plates. 4 works in one volume, oblong 4° (201 x 337mm). (Several leaves detached, including the last; final two plates frayed at margins.) Stitched. The first three works listed in this widely-published anchorite series were engraved by the brothers Sadeler, principally Johann, after Maartin de Vos; the plates are the mirror image of those illustrated in Bartsch, suggesting that they were re-engraved by Le Clerc. Adrien Collaert, Joan Collaert and Cornelis Galle originally engraved the final work listed. The Tropheum vitae solitariae is the only work in the series not found in this album of 106 plates.
