A family group: a Gentleman, wearing teal-coloured coat with black velvet collar, cream waistcoat and frilled white chemise, his hair powdered and worn en queue with a black ribbon bow; to his left, his wife, wearing white dress with lace collar and blue ribbon waistband, a white ribbon in her curled and powdered hair, her right hand resting on his, her left hand, with wedding ring around the shoulder of another Lady, seated in a red upholstered chair, wearing white dress with ruffled collar and cuffs, blue ribbon waistband, matching ribbon about her wrists and white ribbon in her curled and powdered hair, crimson curtain and landscape beyond. Signed on the reverse Sam. Shelley, Henrietta Street, Covt. Garden, gilded wood frame.
