Sandford Type S cyclecar No reserve Carte grise française Châssis n° 2882 - État d'origine étonnant - Modèle rare et intéressant - Carte grise française d'époque - Sans réserve Désigné comme un type S sur sa carte grise, ce rare trois-roues Sandford est dans un "jus" étonnant. La carrosserie semble complète et assez bien préservée, l'arrière étant en aluminium alors que le capot et certains éléments ont probablement été refaits en acier postérieurement. Le tableau de bord est équipé d'un compte-tours et d'une montre Jaeger et, derrière la banquette, on découvre une vieille trousse à outils qui a dû servir à l'époque ! Ce trois-roues est encore équipé de sa boîte de vitesses et un quatre-cylindres Ruby a été retrouvé sur une palette, non loin de l'auto. Sans doute récupéré par Roger Baillon pour cet exemplaire, il semble encore monté dans un morceau de châssis venant d'un autre Sandford et vient avec la voiture. Par ailleurs, la carte grise a pu être retrouvée dans les archives de Roger Baillon. La date de première immatriculation n'y est pas précisée, mais l'on sait que, le 1er août 1951, ce trois-roues était immatriculé 9977 AM 75. C'est en 1967 que Roger Baillon en a fait l'acquisition, si bien que de 1951 à aujourd'hui ce Sandford n'a connu que deux propriétaires ! Inspirés des trois-roues Morgan, les Sandford, fabriqués en France, étaient plutôt mieux finis et disposaient de moteurs quatre-cylindres Ruby protégés par un capot. Ayant connu une production limitée, ils se sont distingués en course, et notamment au Bol d'Or. Cet exemplaire d'origine est particulièrement désirable. The body appears to be complete and fairly well preserved, the rear is in aluminum while the hood and some elements were probably remade in steel later. The dashboard is equipped with a tachometer and a Jaeger clock. Behind the bench we also found an old tool kit that was probably used at that time! This three-wheeler still has its gearbox and a Ruby four-cylinder engine was found on a pallet, not far from the car. Probably planned to be be for this car by Roger Baillon, it seems to be still mounted on a part of chassis from another Sandford and comes with the car. Moreover, the registration document also has been found in Roger Baillon's archives. The date of first registration is not specified, but on August 1, 1951, this three-wheeler was registered as 9977 AM 75. Roger Baillon bought this car in 1967, and since 1951 to today this Sandford has had only two owners! Inspired by the three-wheeled Morgan, the made in France Sandfords were better finished and were powered by Ruby four-cylinder engines, protected by a hood. With a limited production run, they distinguished themselves in racing, including the Bol d'Or. This original piece is particularly desirable.
