Rare and interesting first edition of this work that had great success and circulation. It presents news of historical, geographical, political, economic and social interest in various states of Europe. Only news about Ragusa, Genoa and Lucca is the direct work of the author, the others were reworkings, translations, or songs merely derived from the works of Paolo Giovio, Gaspare Contarini, Alfonso Ulloa, Leandro Muzio, Ottaviano Vestrio and others. Of particular interest is the last chapter, in fact a free translation of Thomas More's Utopia, "The Government of the Republic of Utopia". See Iccu; "Old Legal Issues in Italian", I, 1, p. 208. Francesco Sansovino (1521-1586), a literate and a polygraph, was at the center of the Italian cultural life of the sixteenth century. He was author, curator or translator of 97 works in less than thirty years of literary production. Rara ed interessante prima edizione di quest’opera che ebbe grande successo e circolazione. Solo le notizie su Ragusa, Genova e Lucca sono opera diretta dell'autore, le altre furono invece rielaborazioni, traduzioni, o brani semplicemente derivati dalle opere di Paolo Giovio, Gaspare Contarini, Alfonso Ulloa, Leandro Muzio, Ottaviano Vestrio ed altri. Di particolare interesse è l'ultimo capitolo, di fatto una libera traduzione dell'Utopia di Thomas More, "Del Governo della Repubblica di Utopia". Cfr.
