Two autograph letters signed ('Siegfried' and 'SS' monogram), to Katharine, Lady Gatty, Heytesbury House, 8 September 1942, and to George [Sassoon], Heytesbury House, 17 September 1964, together 3 pages, 8vo , the first a touching letter to his mother-in-law, on his son George ('he is a real banderlog now'), on 'my blessed rides', his latest book ('Edith Olivier read the proofs'), Hester's nerves and life at Heytesbury; the second on arrangements with George, reluctantly presiding over a talk at the Library Society, and on the gassing of a fox who has eaten several chicks. Together with: two photographs of Sassoon with Hester (one with him in hunting attire on horseback) and two photographs of Sassoon with horses; typed letter signed to Sassoon from 10 Downing Street (1950), asking for his acceptance of the CBE; three pencil and watercolour drawings by Sassoon in pencil and watercolour, one titled 'Mimbo's Retreat', and one of Ralph Hodgson and W.H. Davies ('R.H. "You've written too much, Bill"'); a cloth portfolio, the covers painted in colours with geometric shapes surrounding central medallions encorporating Siegfried Sassoon's and Stephen Tennant's monograms and the title 'Rumoirs.I'.
