The vines on the J.J Cohn Estate have lived on the property since their original planting in 1945 and continue to produce exceptionally rich fruit. The brand is named for J.J Cohn, who ascended from a Russian immigrant’s life in Harlem to that of an extraordinarily successful Hollywood Producer. While willing to plant his estate, Cohn had no intentions to make wine himself. Cohn, as Chief of Production at MGM Studios, was an invaluable contributor in the production of The Wizard of Oz. Scarecrow Cabernet Sauvignon is named after the optimistic character Scarecrow, an agricultural icon in his own right.
