SEUME, Johann Gottfried (1763-1810). Autograph letter signed ('Seume') to an unidentified recipient [possibly Freidrich von Matthisson], n.d., n.p., one page, 4to .
SEUME, Johann Gottfried (1763-1810). Autograph letter signed ('Seume') to an unidentified recipient [possibly Freidrich von Matthisson], n.d., n.p., one page, 4to . MY LATEST TRANSGRESSION. Seume transmits his most recent poem (not present), excusing its deficiencies but confessing that he did not wish to change it: 'Hier werden Sie endlich mit meiner neuesten Sünden heimgesucht. Seume's youth was scarred by a long period of enforced military service, from 1782 to 1787; he later worked as a tutor, secretary and publisher. His best known works are travel books, Spaziergang nach Syrakus (1803) and Mein Sommer im Jahr 1805 (1807).
