Original glazed pictorial boards, decorated endpapers (extremities very lightly bumped); pictorial dust jacket (some very minor soiling and rubbing). FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINTING with "250/250" on the jacket, Horton's ears are complete, the tree has five branches, and there is the outline of a cloud all on the rear panel. Younger and Hirsch 31. [ With: ] SEUSS. Horton Hatches the Egg . New York: Random House, 1940. 4 o. Illustrations by the author. (Some ocassional pale spotting.) Original tan cloth; pictorial dust jacket (a few short tears and nicks, some spotting and minor fading). Provenance : Ann Audley Richard (presentation inscription). Later edition, INSCRIBED BY DR. SEUSS on the verso of the front free endpaper: "For Anne Audley Richard on her 9th birthday- Dr. Seuss." Younger and Hirsch 31. (2)
