SHAW, George Bernard (1856-1950). Autograph letter signed ('G. Bernard Shaw') to Philip Snowden, Rosscarberry, Co. Cork, 10 September 1905 , referring to the proposed use of his photograph in a publication and to the copyright, continuing 'Let me know exactly what you contemplate. Being a public person and a private photographer into the bargain, I am more photographed than most people; but the photographs are all the copyright of the photographer except when I have taken them myself, in which case they are generally unfit for publication, through technical defects', one page, 4to , on paper engraved with his London address, the Irish address rubber stamped in the upper margin. Philip Snowden (1864-1937) had been an independant labour party propagandist since 1895, and was active in the socialist press. He became Chancellor of the Exchequer in the Labour Government of 1924. Shaw first met him through his own activities on behalf of the Fabian Society.
