The letters both addressed to Julia Cunningham and dated March and June 1960, each on Shepard's "Woodmancote/Lodsworth/Nr. Petworth" stationery and signed "Ernest Shepard." 6 3/4 x 5 1/4 inches (17.5 x 13.5 cm). The letters fine, the book with very minor edgewear to jacket and toning to endpapers, the signature with slight ink bleed. Two charming letters from Shepard to author Julia Cunningham about the new edition of The Wind in the Willows (present here). In the earlier letter, Shepard hopes that she will like the newly prepared illustrations for the edition, and in the second he thanks her for her compliments on the new illustrations, sending back the book with his signature.
