VF- (7.5). Beautiful copy with a few light rubs. Tan to cream pages. Painted cover by Rudi Nappi. Scripted by Al Feldstein (as himself and Alfred E. Neuman), Jack Oleck, Daniel Keyes (as A.D. Locke). Post-Code Picto-Fiction mag. Half of the stories are written pseudonymously. This is understandable, as scorn for comic book workers was rampant at this time: "'Everybody was punished,' said Carmine Infantino 'It was like the plague. The work dried up, and you had nowhere to go, because comics were a dirty word. You couldn't say you were a comics artist, and you had nothing to put in your portfolio. If you said you drew comic books, it was like saying you were a child molester. It was a nightmare....'" -David Hadju, The Ten-Cent Plague: The Great Comic-Book Scare and How it Changed America [FSG: 2008]. It should be noted that Feldstein used a pseudonym simply to make EC's staffing seem less diminished. PBA Grading Guarantee: Any individual comic book lot (not group lots) graded by PBA is guaranteed to match CGC grading. If the buyer chooses to have the comic CGC certified and that certification is lower than PBA’s, the lot may be returned for a full refund of the sales price (hammer price plus buyer’s premium). See terms and conditions for details. Consignments Accepted for PBA's Next Comic Book Auction. Golden Age, Silver Age, Pre-Code, Original Art, Interesting Ephemera Sought. Contact [email protected] for details. PBA COMICS March 26th Comic Book Sale catalogues available. Supplies Limited. Softcover catalogues limited to 200 copies ($45 + $5 postage/handling). Hardcovers limited to 26 lettered copies, dust jackets, special limitation plates ($150). Contact [email protected]
