ca 1680, likely made for Native American trade around New Amsterdam (present-day New York City). Ca 64 caliber 48.75" round-to-octagonal barrel with worn stamp on top of barrel and standing front sight, flintlock signed behind hammer as above with raised scroll work and lion mask, engraved steel trigger guard with bust of Native American, cast steel side plate in form of serpent, cast steel butt plate with top tang in form of serpent and floral scroll engraving, three steel ribbed ramrod ferrules and rear sling swivel, on underside of full walnut stock, beautifully carved with vining scroll work, wonderful old polished patina on wood and fine old brown patina to barrel, total length 64.5" Provenance: Ex James and Carolyn Dresslar Collection Condition: A few very minor nicks on stock, and expert spliced repair at end, and old walnut puck at missing wrist escutcheon, else EXC.
