Beschreibung:

Numerous sketches in the text, pictorial endpapers. (4to) 25.3x17.3 cm (10x6¾"), half cloth & boards, jacket. First Edition Inscribed and signed on the half-title page by Neil Armstrong, and additionally signed by Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins - all three members of the Apollo XI crew, on which voyage Armstrong and Aldrin were the first men to set foot on the moon, while Collins piloted the command module. Armstrong's autograph is very scarce, due to his reluctance to sign items for people, and it is especially uncommon in a book - to have a signed inscription by him in a book along with the signatures of his two fellow crew members on the first successful moon landing is very rare indeed. The inscription by Armstrong reads "Best Wishes to Mr. Mike - Neil Armstrong." The half-title leaf is faintly creased through Armstrong's inscription and signature. The sketches in the text, the pictorial endpapers, and the dust jacket design are by James Dean, former curator of the National Air and Space Museum.
