Sir Henry Morton Stanley (1841-1904) 2 scrap albums: the first 2° (455 x 340mm.). With numerous newspaper and periodical cuttings from Britain and America, dating from 1886 to 1891 with some hand-written and dated headers, various articles reporting aspects of Stanley's expeditions, addresses, his marriage to Dorothy Tennant, book reviews etc., and an uncorrected proof of Colonel Sir Francis de Winton's report on The Congo Free State [c. late 1880s. De Winton succeeded Stanley as administrator of affairs of the Congo Free State]. (Occasional leaves or sections removed, occasional spotting, torn leaves or rubbed patches). Original half red morocco (lacking spine, rubbed and scuffed); the second album, 4° (360 x 275mm.). With various press obituary cuttings and posthumous articles, recording the death of Stanley on 10 May 1904. Original half black morocco (lacking spine, rubbed and scuffed).
