(15). ⁂ These diaries record Wilkin's travels in Sudan (hunting gazelle in the desert) and India (Oscar died of enteric fever). "Hamitallah told me this afternoon that the Arabs hunt the addax on horses with the help of dogs. They ride them down and spear them. He said that the oryx were so wary and so fast that they are very seldom killed. The arabs give their horses camels milk." - Wilkin.
