34" blade with a flat median ridge extending beyond the fuller on both sides. The blade is engraved with the Royal Arms of Spain, and thus this sword was possibly carried by a member of the King's Royal Guard. The cup plate consists of two ovoid plates, the outer one larger than the inner. A snake emblem surrounded by a shield is engraved on the outer side of the guard. The guard is attached to the hilt and cross guard arm by means of four screws. Straight quillons with knobbed ends. Knuckle bow with knob at midsection and on the end. Grip is wrapped with red .5" wide woven fiber braid and then over-wrapped with twisted wire. The wire is wrapped tighter at each end. Void of grip wings. Cylindrical pommel with faint facets along its length. Flat button finial on pommel. Condition: Even salt and pepper pitting throughout the sword. Wood grips slightly loose, otherwise very good.
