SS EMPRESS / QUEEN MARY COLLECTION COL An intriguing collection of three related photo and scrap albums, relating to voyages taken by the Queen Mary and SS Empress liners, c.1930s. The first album contains sample display photographs (each approx. 12 x17cm) of various seagoing celebrities taken by the Queen Mary's onboard photographer, including Gloria Swanson, Marlene Dietrich, Joe & John Fitzgerald Kennedy, Gary Cooper, Fats Waller, various musicians etc., plus various scenes of onboard life. The second records the "Empress of Britain" World Cruise of 1936, featuring views and snapshots in Africa, the US, Asia etc., whilst the third album contains pasted-in newsclippings and souvenirs relating to the same voyage. Provenance: Collected by the drummer of the onboard band entertainment for the Empress of Britain and Queen Mary liners. Please see our auction website for further images.
