Publisher's tan pictorial cloth gilt. 7 7/8 x 5 1/4 inches; xv, 279 pp.; folding map, frontispiece, plates. Extremities worn particularly at head and foot of spine, binding cracked but holding, map with long split, newsprint obituary of author's husband pasted to recto of frontispiece offsetting to facing page. Inscribed by the author to the front free endpaper. "This Englishwoman, the Duchess of Somerset, describes ranch homes visited in the 1880's near Calgary, Canada" (King, p. 19).
