The envelope is displayed between paragraphs of a Typed Letter Signed by THOMAS STAFFORD. THOMAS P. STAFFORD'S signed provenance letter reads in part: "The Gemini 7 envelope displayed below is from my personal collection.... Wally and I lifted off from Pad 19 on December 15 and rendezvous with Gemini 7 later that afternoon. The Gemini 7 / 6 flight as it was then called proved that orbital rendezvous was indeed possible. That was a critical step to enable the Apollo Program to accomplish President John F. Kennedy's goal of making the first manned lunar landing before the end of the 1960s...."
