CGC certified: VG+ (4.5). Off-white pages. Phil Berube cover, story and art. Not in Overstreet or Gerber. CGC Census: One graded copy (this one). GPAnalysis: No reported sales in any grade. Heritage sold an unslabbed Fine copy in 2016 for $370.45. Rare anti-Red, anti-fascist propaganda rag by political artist Phil Berube. Comics and propaganda have an intertwined history (propagandists and cartoonists both live by the adage that a picture is worth a thousand words). Critics like Fredric Wertham, Geoffrey Wagner and Gershon Legman considered comics the lowest form of dreck, a means to transmit the crude, aggressive and cynical viewpoint of New York publishers to naive kids and moronic adults. A limited edition of 150 softcover and 15 hardcover catalogues is available. 400 lots, fully illustrated. Fun reference, great keepsake. Softcover $30, deluxe hardcover with dust jacket and limitation plate $200. Ten of the 15 hardcovers are pre-ordered and the rest will go quickly, so reserve yours now. To order, contact [email protected] . Consignments welcome for PBA's December 2021 Comic Book sale. Top prices for Pre-Code Horror, Golden Age, Silver Age, original art and ephemera. Send inquiries to [email protected] .
