Bitterly alluding to their divorce: "I got back from Mexico rather sooner than I had expected. The things sent to me had arrived in good order. I see that the poetry, classics, travel, drama etc. which I have collected for years and which I need, are not included. May I have a letter from you saying that you do not intend to let me have them? You see I will have to replace them. Please do this if this is your intention. It is interesting to me also that you did not send the little Gauguin still life--more interesting because you didn't like it.
