A [STEREOVIEWS] Remarkable collection of approximately 260 stereoviews, all of Central Park, New York . Primarily albumen prints mounted to card, 1880s and 1890s, a few slightly later or a different process, one example with a colored tissue layer, so that when viewed the view is seen in color, a few printed in colors. The manufacturers include Kilburn Brothers, Herbert Mitchell, L.D. & Co., Joseph Bates, E. & H. T. Anthony. etc. Very few are by the large manufacturers of stereocards such as Keystone and Underwood. Some wear to cards, overall images in attractive condition; they display well in a hand-held viewer. The cards feature both well-known sights and ones long vanished, such as the Caseno (sic), originally a ladies' refreshment lounge, demolished by Robert Moses While individually such cards are not rare, in such a number this is a collection worthy of scholarly research.
