Frontispiece map in 3 colors. 8vo, full crimson morocco, covers with double gilt fillet borders, front cover with central with vari-colored morocco onlaid design of Captain Silver, spine in six compartments with five raised bands, gilt-lettered in two compartments, a repeated gilt rigged ship device in the rest, board edges and turn-ins gilt, g.e., original cloth spine bound-in at rear, by BAYNTUN-RIVIERE, a little wear to spine extremities; cloth slipcase. FIRST EDITION, lacking rear ads. Contains the following points: "Dead Man's Chest" not capitalized at pp. 2 and 7, "a" lacking in line 6 of p. 63, "7" not present in the pagination at p. 127, period dropped from line 20 at p. 178, "worse" for "worst" in line 3 at p. 197.
