Xenia, Ohio: Printed for the Compiler, 1827. Very rare first edition. Stipp's work is one of the most important sources on the early western frontier, with primary source material on the Revolutionary War era Indian wars in Kentucky and Ohio. It is most notable for including the first book printing of John Bradford's Notes, which first appeared in the Kentucky Gazette beginning on 25 August 1826. That work includes much on the exploits of Daniel Boone and represents over half of this book. Also included are accounts of Clarke's and Bowman's expeditions, the Battle of Blue Licks, and several captivity narratives. Rare. According to the auction records of ABPC, this is only the third copy on the market since the Streeter sale.
