The 1462 Fust & Schoeffer Bible: An Essay by Eberhard Koenig. With an Original Leaf from the 1462 Bible Author: Place: Akron & Evanston Publisher: Bruce Ferrini / Hamill & Barker Date: 1993 Description: 40 pp. 50x37 cm (19¾x14½"), cloth-backed boards. Leaf set in linen folder. Both set in folding linen box with paper cover label, measuring 57.7x39.5 cm (22¾x15½"). One of 166 copies, printed buy W. Thomas Taylor Superbly designed and produced leaf book, with an original leaf from the 1462 Mainz Bible printed by Fust & Schoeffer, the earliest  with a printed date and essentially the earliest Bible leaf obtainable after Gutenberg. The original leaf is a particularly choice example, containing the first chapters of Deuteronomy, with an elaborate 7-line hand-drawn initial in blue and red on the recto, and a slightly smaller initial in red on the verso.
