The BeatlesA Signed Fragment of a ‘Star-Club’ Hamburg Entry Ticket, 1962 the rare blue paper ticket printed in black, the fragment torn at the beginning of the words Star-Club showing the club’s partial name [Hamburg Rock] …n’ Twist-Zentrale Hamburgs incomplete address, and the ticket number; the reverse signed in blue ink by all four Beatles and additionally inscribed The Beatles in Paul McCartney’s hand, both Ringo’s and unusually George’s signature embellished beneath with a five-point-star symbol, (60 x 90mm.), the ink of the bold signatures shows areas of bleeding due to the absorbency of the paper. The fragment has creasing and two small tears on the jagged left-hand side. There are further small creases on the top and bottom edges. Overall condition fair to good The signatures, acquired during The Beatles’ final residency at The Star Club, between the 18 and 31 December, 1962, are accompanied by a scan of a typescript letter of provenance from the recipient, Clint Riven’s daughter. Riven, a member of a group called The Wags performed alongside The Beatles at The Star Club on a few occasions during their last period at the club. He is said to have admired The Beatles’ rebellious spirit and Lennon’s absurd sense of humour. This item comes with a certificate of authenticity.
