Title leaf, plate list, and table of chapters, plus 37 chromolithograph plates. 52.5x76.5 cm. (20¾x30¼") loose in portfolio, as issued. Second Edition. Rare portfolio issue with the plates unfolded and unbound, typically encountered bound with the plates creased at center. Superb facsimile of the scroll, purchased by Budge for the British Museum in 1888. Sir Ernest Alfred Thompson Wallis Budge (1857-1934) was an Egyptologist who worked for many years for the British Museum and published numerous works on the ancient Near East. Lot Amendments Condition: An ex-library copy from the Cleveland Museum of Art, with perforated mark on title page and small ink stamps on the reverse of each plate. Portfolio worn with the original backstrip detached, old cloth tape repairs to spine, now failing; some wear to the preliminary leaves; a few plates with light edge wear but the plates overall very good.
